Born in Bogotá, she earned her law degree at the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, where she specialized in Conflict Resolution. Furthermore, she specialized in Twenty First Century City Management at the Universidad Abierta de Cataluña, and in Capital Gains Recovery as a tool for the Development and Regularization of Informal Settlements at the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy.
She served as Senator of the Republic (2006-2010) and member of the House of Representatives (2002-2006).
In the 2011 regional elections, she ran as an independent candidate for Mayor of Bogotá.
Ms. Parody then served as Senior Presidential Advisor for Bogotá Affairs and between February 2013 and June 2014 she was the Director of the Servicio Nacional de Aprendizaje (National Apprenticeship Service) (Sena).
