Cúcuta, September 2, 2015 (SIG)
President Juan Manuel Santos announced this Wednesday that he will decree an economic emergency to face the crisis situation in the areas affected by the border closing.
The president made the announcement during the Extraordinary Cabinet Council meeting held at the State Assembly of Norte de Santander, in the presence of members of the diplomatic corps accredited in Colombia.
The economic emergency will benefit, among other aspects, the transportation of the coal produced in Sardinata, Salazar, Cúcuta and Zulia, which has been held back due to the border closing.
Finally, the Head of State said that the purpose is to “turn this crisis into an opportunity”.
